2012 Marina Piper Pinot noir
Floral notes mingle with minerality on the nose. A smooth, velvety mouthfeel features juicy red cherry and cranberry augmented by earthiness. Good balance and a long finish define this totally tasty wine (Oregon Wine Press, November 2014).
Perfect with roast turkey at Thanksgiving or any other time, this wine is also a wonderful complement to grilled vegetables, spinach mushroom soufflé, salmon braised in garlic-infused butter finished with truffle salt, smoked chicken, or rosemary chicken.
Vineyards: Winter's Hill (Dundee Hills AVA) 62%; Nicholas (Chehalem Mountain AVA) 17%; Other Willamette Valley vineyards 24%
Winemaker's Notes: Grapes were hand-picked, gently de-stemmed and allowed to cold macerate for three days. Once fermented dry, they were gently pressed and the wine was transferred to barrels for aging. The wine was aged 19 months in barrel (21% new oak) and was racked three times. Will cellar until 2020 or longer. Released August, 2014.
