Fruit sourcing
Winter’s Hill Vineyard, Dundee Hills (75%) – We received our grapes from block 1 of the vineyard which is planted with the Pommard clone. Winter’s Hill is a very carefully managed, low input vineyard.
Cottonwood Vineyard, Willamette Valley (25%) - Cottonwood Vineyard is located in the Eola Hills and contains one acre of carefully managed Pinot noir. Clones include Dijon 375, Dijon 10-18, Wadenswil and Pommard. The grapes from this vineyard add intensity and make an important contribution to the complexity of this Pinot noir.
Harvest and winemaking notes
The grapes were carefully handpicked, gently destemmed and allowed to cold macerate for two days. Once fermented they were lightly pressed and transferred to barrels for aging. We used 35% new oak on this wine including a small amount of Oregon oak. 634 cases produced.
Winemaker and pairing notes
This wine opens with aromas of red raspberry, coconut and Tarte Tatin along with vanilla and white chocolate. It continues with flavors of pomegranate, mango, banana and pear which linger on the palette through the finish. This wine is medium bodied with smooth tannins and packed with flavors that develop over a long period in the glass. Try it with grilled tri-tip or grilled vegetables, poached asparagus, spring green salad with dried figs and walnuts or roasted leg of lamb.
