Fruit sourcing

Durant Vineyard Madrone Block, Dundee Hills (83%) – The Durants have been growing wine grapes since the 1970’s and are widely recognized as one of the top growers in Oregon.  Jory soil lends rich black currant, pear and ripe strawberry flavors.

Cottonwood Meadows estate, Willamette Valley (17%) – Our two-acre estate vineyard has predominantly Woodburn soil and contributes a powerful infusion of cherry to the wine.

Harvest and winemaking notes
The grapes were handpicked at each of the vineyards.  They were then chilled to 40 degrees Fahrenheit, gently destemmed  and allowed to cold macerate for four days.  After a light pressing, the wines were transferred to French oak barrels (33% new) to finish malolactic fermentation and age for 16 months.  They were racked four times for clarity and stability and bottled unfined and unfiltered. 126 cases produced.

Winemaker and pairing notes

Full-bodied and smooth with an excellent tannin profile.  Enjoy with roast wild turkey, mushroom stuffed lamb chops, roasted young saddle of venison or baked tempeh and rice.

* We also have some of our 2002 library vintage available for sale.
